fibro butterfly tangle 4-7-14_0001

Zentangled Fibromyalgia awareness butterfly…
pen and ink uploaded to a photo editor and colored purple ( my ink is basic black)
way back when I was wee I discovered how fun pen and ink was…then a few years back discovered Zentangle, meditative art…woo…have loved it ever since. Like doodling on caffeine…hence some of the wiggly lines. Hoping to one day combine the pen and ink with quilting…both my passions at once! Although at the moment I’m saving up for a guitar body to get Zen all over! April 7th 2014

All who Dwell in my Heart

Finished the Robyn and Neal block…can you believe I didn’t have enough mint or chocolate ribbon?!? Yeah I was shocked too…really broke my heart to go to JoAnn to find the perfect ribbons… hand embroidered Robyn / Neal in chocolate floss…just waiting for the ice-cream man for some mint chocolate chip in a waffle cone! Pattern: ‘crazy hearts’ http://www.paperpanache.com/guests/aheart.htm  Completed July 25th 2013

Attached the ultra teeny diaper to the good works block and added some super cutie patootie ribbons…bummer couldn’t locate ribbon with socks or better yet sock monkeys on it…oh well…this works pretty good. Hand embroidered ‘good works’ on this cotton and flannel heart. This heart is for God’s Tiny Angels, Operation Sock Monkey, Hands for Haiti, Clowns without borders and Teeny Tears! Pattern: ‘crazy hearts’ http://www.paperpanache.com/guests/aheart.htm  Completed July 26th 2013

The very last block, number 20, for the quilt All Who Dwell in my Heart…there are pieces of antique lace and some of my favorite light colored fabrics in this block.  All hand embroidered just like all the other blocks in the quilt.   Pattern: ‘crazy hearts’ http://www.paperpanache.com/guests/aheart.htm Completed July 27th 2013

All who dwell in my heart quilt top is complete…and I only need to tear off one ribbon that I inadvertently melted when I was ironing the top…still can’t figure out how I managed to iron on the fusible batting to that block without melting the ribbon in the first place…nonetheless it is as fabulous as I always thought it would be! It’s taken me a wee bit over 3 years to complete this eye scalding quilt of love and happiness.  Once totally done it will live on the wall right next to Jim’s Tumor Start Quilt. Life adventures in warm lovie form.  When complete it will be approximately 36 inches by 45 inches.  I figure I’ll machine quilt it for longevity, haven’t decided on the backing yet, but I have quite the assortment of slabs of fabric to contemplate. a quilt named Applebee’s

A brain storm of a quilt called Applebee’s

Center block is already made…

note: the border around it is not asymmetrical…the photo editor just kind of cropped it that way… the middle block is called Apple-Bees for my first date with my now husband…yup Applebee’s at Ridgedale Mall and Jazmin was our chaperone. Even though I really don’t care for red I will probably keep this quilt if I ever make it since the middle block has meaning. 🙂 The red borders will be some sort of red apple fabric.

The blue border will be a blue batik to go with the blue in the center block. Unfortunately I don’t know the name of the blue in the block or have any more as I got it in a swap, it’s a wonderful dappled blue with metallic gold sprinkled in…

the black and yellow borders will be oh I’m thinking 3.5 inch squares and either Amish solids or some fabulous batiks that are almost solid.

Of course the whole quilt will be finished up with yellow and black prairie points!

The corner blocks I think I’ll paper pieced bees and apples …I just need to locate the paper piece patterns I used…I made the center block over a year ago…I’m a touch flighty after I accomplish something and at the time the block itself was the accomplishment…who would think that far into the future to make a quilt out of a quilt block?!? Only thing is the apple is slightly larger than the bee sooooo I guess I’ll add borders to the bee till it’s the same size as the apple so the wide borders are the same width…I’m odd like that…

Okey Dokey so the apple paper pieced pattern can be found at: http://fandominstitches.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/pattern_ofenjen_apple.pdf

And here’s the sweet honey bee pattern: http://piecebynumber.com/honeybee.htm

Oonies & Monkey of LUV

Baby safe Oonieone slightly skinny leg for easier grasping…machine and hand sewn using one red heeled monkey sock, for durability and the possible copious washings he/she may need…rainbow ric rack machine sewn on…face embroidered and eyebrow double knotted…this little Oonie should be quite resilient and survive your baby till your baby out grows him/her…if that happens…about 8 inches tall standing Completed 1-29-12 during a continuing Judge Judy marathon…yep…angst for one and all…will be for sale on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/YaneZweeLovies

OONIE is so totally not you mother’s red-heeled sock monkey

The very 1st Oonie was created in 1967 by my mom Grace.  I didn’t even exist yet.  But as soon as I did Oonie was my best little friend.  Made of red-heeled socks and stuffed with old nylons he was just the right size and was ready for what ever came his way.  The original Oonie watches over the creation of all subsequent Oonies.

His name Oonie came from his uno (1) eyebrow and uno (1) ear.  Just about every baby in my family and friends has gotten an Oonie at one time or another. Most Oonies in our family were made while the baby was still in utero.

The new millennium (lol) Oonie is made for any one needing just a little some one to hug.  Machine sewn out of the same kind of red-heeled socks as the original these ‘modern’ Oonie’s have hand embroidered eyes and heart  and are stuffed with hypoallergenic stuffing.

…mind you my Oonie’s are all unisexed and I don’t delve into gender realism…

Luv Monkey…just in time for Valentine’s day…completely baby safe…made of 2 fun red and white socks…machine and hand sewn…hand embroidered everything…almost too cute to sell…completed 1-28-12 with Dream Catcher droning in the background… will be for sale on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/YaneZweeLovies

Oonies through the years…left to right: the original Oonie made in 1967 by my mom…Nat’s Oonie made in 1989 by me…pom pom and baby safe Oonies made by me 2012

Pom Pom Oonie…wicked feminine and cute! Washer backed plastic eyes…machine and hand sewn using one red heeled monkey sock…pompoms around the hat…double knotted embroidery floss eyebrow…about 9 inches standing… Completed 1-28-12 during a fabulous Judge Judy marathon…yep…angst for one and all…will be for sale on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/YaneZweeLovies

Home is Where the Heart Is quilt

eye scalding red pink heart quilt WIP (work in process)…sewed together a pile of 6″ charms last night to make one of the borders and gathered the rest of the fabric I’m going to mash into this quilt…no idea how massive this may become…hopefully no bigger than 60 inches square so I can do the floor work here at home…the center block and the signature square were paper pieced by hand the rest of the quilt will be machine pieced…then I’ll do some tying, machine quilting and hand quilting to the center block and signature square…I’m thinking red and pink prairie points around the edge too…so many quilts so little time!  No idea who this one’s for…may sell it…give it away…donate it…may just give up and hang it on my wall

companion animal heart

Companion Animal block is for all the beasties large and small who have been a big part of our lives.  Reptiles, fish, amphibians, rodents, arachnids, cats, dogs, birds, the odd horse and cow…even a snail for Igor Jazmin’s Apple Snail. A butterfly for the monarch’s we try to grow each year.  Yes we’ve attempted many a beastie! They all will dwell in our hearts long after they’ve left this mortal sphere. Note: the 2 Shamus’…he was sprawled warmly against my leg while I hand pieced this one…

Completed September 14th 2010

Shamus isn’t really into his new Halloween hat…It does keep him on one place till he gets it off his head though! September 14th 2010

Shamus is having a good glare at me for heartlessly strapping a hat on him.  Guess he’s just not that into fashion! September 14th 2010

As I sit munching

from my wee can of peaches, in heavy syrup of course…I look at the sweet gift my sweet lima bean man got me…2009

yeah I know it wasn’t horribly expensive, I’m perfectly happy being a cheap date, specially n this economy.  I’ve never needed diamonds, gold, roses.  I’m ok with pretty stones, silver and a card!  Just to have him look at the racks of silly, tacky, wacky, occasionally sad costume jewelry and find the one that I would like the most and actually wear to death, is enough to let me know that I finally found the guy in the world who is truly my soul mate.  We may not like all the same things, some of his music may pain my ears as I’m sure mine does his, we may not agree on politics and all, but we still are perfect together!  I make him laugh, he makes me laugh…we love freakishly spooky movies and he doesn’t get mad when I scream along.  He appreciates that I ache most of the time.  I appreciate that he works to exhaustion most days.

Gosh but he’s just too totally dandy!

Remind me to make something turquoise and orange…those colors look wicked lovely together!

Love Me

Love Me

Love me in the springtime, when all is green and new, and pollen takes over the sky.
Love me in the summer, when the sky is oh so blue, with the heat oppressive and sad.
Love me in the autumn, when the leaves are turning brown, and the mold abounds.
Love me in the winter, when the snow is falling down, and the chill keeps us under the blankets.

Love me in the city, in the grime, pollution and crime.

Love me in the country, where the inbred hate our freakiness.

Love me in the truck, painted and glued with flamboyance.

Love me late at night; wile my snoring saws down a great redwood.

Love me when I’m happy, and even when I’m sad,
Love me when I’m good, or when I’m oh so bad,
Love me when I’m pretty, or if my face is bland,
Love me when I’m on steroids, or if I wheeze.

Love me on the Internet, with your sweet IMs

Love me via email, where your mush never ends.

Love me on the phone, with the constant interruption.

Love me to me face, so I can see you lovely eyes, speaking to my heart.

Love me always, Jim, in the rain or shining sun,
Love me always, Sweetie, after all is said and done,
Love me always, Sugar Lips, until all our life is through,
Love me always, my lovely sensitive freak, for I’ll always be loving you!
