All who Dwell in my Heart

Finished the Robyn and Neal block…can you believe I didn’t have enough mint or chocolate ribbon?!? Yeah I was shocked too…really broke my heart to go to JoAnn to find the perfect ribbons… hand embroidered Robyn / Neal in chocolate floss…just waiting for the ice-cream man for some mint chocolate chip in a waffle cone! Pattern: ‘crazy hearts’ http://www.paperpanache.com/guests/aheart.htm  Completed July 25th 2013

Attached the ultra teeny diaper to the good works block and added some super cutie patootie ribbons…bummer couldn’t locate ribbon with socks or better yet sock monkeys on it…oh well…this works pretty good. Hand embroidered ‘good works’ on this cotton and flannel heart. This heart is for God’s Tiny Angels, Operation Sock Monkey, Hands for Haiti, Clowns without borders and Teeny Tears! Pattern: ‘crazy hearts’ http://www.paperpanache.com/guests/aheart.htm  Completed July 26th 2013

The very last block, number 20, for the quilt All Who Dwell in my Heart…there are pieces of antique lace and some of my favorite light colored fabrics in this block.  All hand embroidered just like all the other blocks in the quilt.   Pattern: ‘crazy hearts’ http://www.paperpanache.com/guests/aheart.htm Completed July 27th 2013

All who dwell in my heart quilt top is complete…and I only need to tear off one ribbon that I inadvertently melted when I was ironing the top…still can’t figure out how I managed to iron on the fusible batting to that block without melting the ribbon in the first place…nonetheless it is as fabulous as I always thought it would be! It’s taken me a wee bit over 3 years to complete this eye scalding quilt of love and happiness.  Once totally done it will live on the wall right next to Jim’s Tumor Start Quilt. Life adventures in warm lovie form.  When complete it will be approximately 36 inches by 45 inches.  I figure I’ll machine quilt it for longevity, haven’t decided on the backing yet, but I have quite the assortment of slabs of fabric to contemplate. Monkeys in Hoboken

Look some of my monkeys at Boys & Girls Club of Hoboken New Jersey! EEEEEEE…wicked cool!

GroupPhoto

Once again I would like to thank you for the hand made Sock Monkeys. Not only are these creations amazing but they did the job they were intended to do-bring smiles to children’s’ faces. Their faces lit up at the mere sight of these sock monkeys let alone when they knew they were allowed to have one they went ecstatic.

Once again thank you for choosing the Boys and Girls Club of Hoboken as your sock monkey recipients.

Socky girls

as yet unnamed well I named them but they haven’t gotten their forever girls yet to really name them.  These are already boxed with the last 2 finished sock monkeys and the one lone Oonie ready to be shipped out to Operation Sock Monkey in Canada.  I made 2 more bags so I have 2 more piles of baby socks to make additional sets of wee people to ship out eventually.  These are SO tiny each is about 2.5 inches tall if that.  One baby sock makes one teeny person.  About an hour of furious uninterrupted hand sewing; far too tiny to sew on the machine.  December 29th 2012

Boy 28 week gestation (approximately) sized

Teeny Tears http://teenytears.blogspot.com/ diapers…some of this lovely flannel is from fat quarters from Heavenly Patchwork in Waconia, some from Xmas gift from a few years ago from my friend Kris…it all was just waiting for the perfect project…these teeny diapers were just that project.  Pretty sure these will go to God’s Tiny Angels in West Virginia  http://www.godstinyangels.com/  unless of course I hear from a hospital here in Minnesota first…at the rate I’m sewing I think I’ll have enough for whom ever needs them. Hoping to package these with Oliver’s help soon…he’s an expert taper! December 30th 2012

Girl 18 & 28 gestation (approximately) sized

Teeny Tears http://teenytears.blogspot.com/ diapers…some of this lovely flannel is from fat quarters from Heavenly Patchwork in Waconia, some mom found at a garage sale…it all was just waiting for the perfect project…these teeny diapers were just that project.  Pretty sure these will go to God’s Tiny Angels in West Virginia http://www.godstinyangels.com/  unless of course I hear from a hospital here in Minnesota first. Teeny single diapers,

there is a place for these too! The super teenies (lower right corner) I may be putting pin backs on…we shall see! Every so often with the furious chopping of the flannel I’ll end up with one lone diaper…or when turning them right side out I accidentally poke a hole in one to the point that it looks too hideous leaving the match alone…so these all get sewn and put in their own bag for the day that the bag is full then I’ll send it to Tayler’s Treasure in South Dakota https://www.facebook.com/TaylersTreasures  December 31st 2012

Teeny fabulous diapers in process

the tie dye (don’t you just LOVE this flannel) is backed with royal purple, these are 28 gestation (approximately) sized Teeny Tears http://teenytears.blogspot.com/ diapers I’m thinking probably boy, fabric from JoAnn…(don’t you just LOVE JoAnn Fabrics?!?) thus I gush!  The smaller ones are the ultra super teeny diapers I’ll be putting pin backs on and placing one into matching sets when I have them.  They are to minute…Oliver can hardly fit his fingers in the leg openings when the diaper is all pinned… December 30th 2012

Heavenly Fabric

Heavenly cotton

from Heavenly Patchwork Quilt Shop http://www.heavenlypatchworkquiltshop.com/  in Waconia…massive thanks to Kris for the gift certificate for some more fabulous hippy-esque cottons for the tacky hippy quilt I’ll eventually be making…I’ll be bring all the hippy fabric to the shop so I can find the perfect solid shade to sash the hippy squares with. The bubble gum pink with little Shamuses will be going into the pink box rather than the hippy quilt. December 27th 2012

Heavenly flannel

from Heavenly Patchwork Quilt Shop http://www.heavenlypatchworkquiltshop.com/  in Waconia… eeeeeeeeeeeeeee lookit the wickedly fun green with bugs! Love it! The stripy blue is for the opposite side of the plethora of diapers I can make via Teeny Tears for God’s Tiny Angels and any other hospitals I hear from here in MN…think I’ll make a couple preemie flannel lovies out of it as well.  Out of each fat quarter I can make 2 large teeny diapers, 2 small teeny diaper and 1 microteeny diaper…the itty bitty scraps left over are so tiny my heart is hardly broken to throw them away (usually I safe any scrap larger than 1X1 inch) The pile of small square is a charm set of flannel…at least 2 or 3 preemie lovies there…and now that the sewing machine is home safe and sound and ready to sew…so am I! If you’re in the area this is the dandiest place to get your machine adjusted: http://www.papasshoerepair.com excellent service and the prices are totally affordable! The Embroidery machine will be going in next! December 27th2012

My monkeys have made it to Haiti! Via http://haitibyhand.typepad.com

Here’s a wee recipient of one of my monkeys…eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee…so happy to see one of my sock beasties actually going to someone to be loved!

I remember just a couple months ago chopping up these holiday socks and making this happy monkey with a hat! This makes all that sewing so worthwhile! November 16th 2012

sewing foot wear critters

So much more fun than winterizing the house!!!

5 of the 9 or 10 stubby-legged-baby-safe-rattle-tummied-anklet-beasties destined for God’s Tiny Angels in West Virginia http://www.godstinyangels.com/.  They are WIP thus far; I want to get all the Lilliputians sewn together before embroidering all their wee cute faces on.  Love the silly alien on the lower right with his funny antennas and tail.  Most of these anklets were a set from Walmart, the Argyle is from Target, and the alien sock were from Lady Foot Locker, outrageous prices but fabulous colors! October 28th 2012

The last of the almost finished monkeys is now finished! The Doily eyed Harlequin monkey…this one seems male in spite of the doily eyes!  He has an odd button nose and 3 assorted buttons down his chest.  Embroidered grim matches the doilies.  He’ll be going to http://www.operationsockmonkey.com/ with the very next shipment! October 27th 2012

Oliver’s wee man…This little dude will be residing in Olie’s X-mas stocking till the big day…Olie picked out the sock, the smallest baby sock I had…super tiny newborn…took me a while but I managed to get this little dude all done by hand for Oliver.  French knot eyes and a tiny button on his chest.  Note: tape measure…he is very tiny! October 27th 2012

Well the basket is smashed full I think it’s time to ship a few beasties out before I start having escapes! Zarlaks, monkeys, wee beasties…most if not all will eventually find their way to Operation Sock Monkeyhttp://www.operationsockmonkey.com/ in Canada and go from there to the 4 corners of the planet in search of a wee person to love! October 29th 2012

Monkey business and other siliness

Oliver and Olivia playing ‘doo-doo-doos’.

With 4 birthdays in November and what now wrapping paper has been purchased and left there to MAKE me wrap gifts…Note all the toys in the background being blatantly ignored so the tubes cam be employed to doing and eye spying…October 24th 2012

Olivia monkey testing…she really gets into her work! Many of the monkeys, not Olivia, will be going tohttp://www.operationsockmonkey.com/ to travel the world in search of a child to love. October 24th 2012

Mom’s X-mas Mz Wee…all of 3 inches tall made from one girls anklet…I think she needs a ribbon of some sort…all hand stitched as she is SO tiny!  Oliver approves of this wee person will be perfect for Gumma.
