this weekend’s MeanderingZ

Quilted signature square for my WBS (Witch Bonnet Sue) plus quilt…
I’ve noticed that nothing I sew is ever ‘perfect’, wonder how other quilters do it…but I digress…this block is about 12.5X12.5…give er take. The three wee candy corns are from Paper Pieced Quilt Labels # 6 and can be found at:

Echo Quilting around one of the WBS (Witch Bonnet Sue) Blocks I received from Lorraine in New Zealand.  I LOVE water erase marking pens! They made this wicked cool echo quilting possible!  Completed August 29th 2010

E is for Ella’s nappy time towel for school.  Paper pieced the E and embroidered the K in kiwi colored embroidery floss…E pattern is from 300 paper pieced patterns by Carol Doak, pattern # 005. Finished August 28th 2010.

SLAYER-embroidery & quilting o-MY!

Saturday Jim Jaz and I went to the Slayer-Megadeath-Testiment concert at Roy Wilkins auditorium…WICKED LOUD & too cool 4 words! Erik Hess a photographer for City Pages took out picture before we went in…

his fabulous photography from this concert can also be found at: http://www.citypages.com/slideshow/slayer-and-megadeth-storm-the-xcel-center-30866119/

Massive Octopi embroidery has begun.  This one is in shades of green…really green! I figure each cephalopod will be in a different color…rainbow-eske’ once again! I found the octopi and one of the cuttle fish with a Google cephalopod line drawing search. The big octopus is from the site: http://corvustristis.wordpress.com/2009/03/11/cephalopodia/ . Enlarged the picture from 8.5X11 to 11X14 on the copier…looking quite nice thus far! August 21st 2010

Sewed the WBS (Witch Bonnet Sue) + quilt together…backed with a black sheet and have started hand quilting…almost done with the 1st block! Machine quilted in the ditch between the block to hold it together while I quilt…good and hearty!  Its 60 inches across and 72 inches tall. Jazmin of course thinks she should get this quilt when I’m done…erm…NOT…this will be living on the futon when finally done so those wicked cold winter evenings! J August 23rd 2010

Note: sleeping Shamus…

A few more for the WBS quilt

Sewed a bit for the WBS (Witch Bonnet Sue) Quilt.  I was gathering all the Halloween fabric I could find in my stash to frappe’ some preemie lovies for the season and in so doing chopped up a few more blocks for the WBS quilt.

Some of this is new fabric ordered just for the WBS quilt some WAY old and has been sitting in it’s box for quite some time waiting for a purpose.

wee flying witch block

Weird storm that was building while I was blissfully oblivious while piecing.  Storm didn’t amount to anything more than thunder bumpers and some rain…interesting clouds though! June 1st 2010

Rainbow Witch Two

Rainbow witcht two  (Orange & Yellow) for my rainbow coalition witchy block…this is Block # 89 from the book 300 paper pieced blocks by Carol Doak.  This block is 5.25 square.  All hand pieced. It will be joined by 3 others: Red & Purple, Green & Blue and Black & Pink.  I’ve some wacky rainbow fabric to sash the block with.  She’ll get a face when the whole block is done. This, of course, will be a part of my Witch Bonnet Sue quilt. May 13th 2010

Shamus with his pleading eyes…pay attention to me… May 13th 2010

Witch Bonnet Sue # 6 2010

My very own Witch Bonnet Sue block…and I think it turned out swimmingly! Blinding frappe’ of Gigglytude!
This WBS block is 12.5 X 12.5 the center hand pieced then the borders machined on. Pattern can be found: http://www.sewhooked.org/paper_piecing/img/hp/edited/5_inch_paperpiece_hogwartssue.jpg
Finished April 5th 2010, now I have a few other witchy blocks to do for this quilt too to make it a nice size, perhaps something to sleep beneath or cuddle up in the living room with. All the other blocks from the swap should arrive some time in June (my birthday month how appropriate!) till then I have about 4 other paper pieced witch type blocks printed up and blended in with my other hand work.

April is for Witch making

finished the last of the witch bonnet sue blocks for the swap, now I’m working on mine…this will eventually be the most wicked cool quilt! this and all the other WBS blocks is 12.5 X 12.5 the center hand pieced then the borders machined on. Pattern can be found : http://www.sewhooked.org/paper_piecing/img/hp/edited/5_inch_paperpiece_hogwartssue.jpg finished April 3rd 2010

JBRR # 27 (Just add a Border Round Robin), I’m still working on the # 25 round robin but I figured I’d get an early start on the next round robins by getting the bellybutton squares done. This is a witch that has been shaken me thinks, her eyes say so… and since I couldn’t locate a star button (go figure) she has a rubbery frog on her hat. 4.5 X 4.5 inches square, all hand pieced…she looks better in person as the flash kinda washed her out… Her pattern is from 300 Paper Pieced patterns by Carol Doak pattern # 089 finished April 3rd
