Frank Anyway the long limbed quasi Steampunk monkey…Completed during a viewing (as it were) of 28 Day Later…although the eyes and nose are ‘safe’ definitely not baby proof…metal gears around the nose one eye and earring…made of a pair of knee highs so he’s quite tallish…very good at yoga! 12-26-11for sale (eventually)

Fusia Squiggle leggy sock monkey…super wiggle squiggly eyelashes, moth and belly button hand embroidered…safe eyes and nose but wouldn’t give this to a face chewing baby or toddler…she’s made of woman’s knee highs so she’s tie on-able and knot-able…made during a kinda-viewing of 28 weeks later…it was zombie day…12-26-11 for sale (eventually)

Palm Sized striped Hamster…made of one lone striped Halloween-ish sock…careful he does have a bit of pink eye in one eye…but since he has no eyelashes you don’t have to worry about any butterfly kisses…limey green curly lips and belly button…sits well on his flat butt…he has ‘safe’ eyes and nose but are they ever really safe?!?  Made during an all day festival of the 3rd season of the X-files…ah shoulder pads! Sanrio Sock Cat…at first glance you’ll notice this doesn’t look remotely Sario…it’s the pair of toddler Sario socks I used to give this one a name…Stacked button eyes, nose and belly button make this one totally NOT baby proof…Sewn all be hand makes it not too hearty either…Huggable hand sized goofy gob… Made during an all day festival of the 3rd season of the X-files…ah big hair… Idea found in Socks Appeal by Brenna Maloney 12-25-11 for sale (eventually)

Rainbow Slouch Bunnia…hand sized sewn all by hand…Stacked button eyes and jingle bell buttons makes this wee beastie not baby proof…made of 2 girls ankle socks with a hand embroidered face, with 2 glove fingers for ears…a bit of a curved spine but if you stand him just right he doesn’t seem to mind… Made during an all day festival of the 3rd season of the X-files…ah boxy sedans…12-24-11 for sale (eventually)

rather busy weekend

Oliver’s Heart

Olie is SO a little boy (at the moment) I went through all my fabric to find all the boy fabric.  Couldn’t locate any snips and snails and puppy dog tails so we’ll have to just put up with truck and motocross and flame coated tattoos! A lot of the fabric Oliver has picked out over the years at the quilt shop.  Guess I’ll have to make an entire boy quilt one of these days!

Hand paper pieced with the manly ribbons machine sewed on. Pattern: ‘crazy hearts’ this block will join 19 others to make my ‘Those Who Dwell in my Heart.

Completed October 16th 2010

Hearts for my ‘Those Who Dwell in my Heart’ quilt so far…11 so far…9 to go!  This will be such an eye burning assortment of Gigglytude!  Pattern: ‘crazy hearts’ October 17th 2010

Three little tree Yule ornaments for an ornament swap…each hand paper pieced and quilted…7 more to go for this swap…I better get in gear! Pattern from 300 paper pieced quilt block patterns by Carol Doak pattern # 44 October 17th 2010

Shamus is totally bored by my sewing…poor tired guy got a bath then I trimmed the hair across the bridge of his nose so he could see out of his eyes. October 17th 2010

Oliver and this 3 hour Lego airplane. October 17th 2010

almost mess & tiny stitches

This morning I found that the lap desk I use for paper piecing had been knocked onto the floor and hastily picked up and put back upside down…lovely arrangement of all the stuff I use to paper piece though…I can always use a new Wally paper for my computer to make me look forward to going home and piecing once again! October 11th 2010

tiny stitches…I try to get more than 12 per inch when paper piecing by hand…I always paper piece by hand since I’ve a phobia of sewing through my hand/finger/piece of me when working on little stuff…thus far I’ve only rapped my knuckles with the screw holding the needle in place but who wants to take any chances?!? This is the back of a 4 inch square pine tree…

October 11th 2010

Finally some piecing!

Mom’s Heart

M Is for the Many things she gave me,
O Means only that she’s growing Old.
T Is for the Tears she shed to save me,
H Is for her Heart of purest gold.
E Is for her Eyes with love light shining,
R Means Right and Right she’ll always be.

Put them all together, they spell MOTHER.
A word that means the world to me.

Hand paper pieced in purples and greens the colors she like to wear most…this will join 19 other heart blocks to make my quilt ‘Those Who Dwell in my Heart’. Pattern: ‘crazy hearts’ ribbons machine sewed on & ‘mom’ hand embroidered.  Completed October 10th 2010

2 Yule ornament swap trees done thus far…pattern from 300 Paper Pieced Quilt Block Patterns by Carol Doak.  Pattern # 044. All hand work.  Tree on the left Completed October 10th 2010

a lil Shamus a lil piecing

Went to Target to get Oliver an inflatable mattress since he now will be sleeping at my house Sunday thru Thursday because his mom now works 3rd shift…can’t go to Target without checking out the dollar bins.  Well, there was Halloween baby t-shirts…hey it’s a buck so I got one for Shamus, I figured since it had the flap neck it would fit over his head.

You would not believe how calm he was after the t-shirt was on, no jumping up on us…no hyper behavior.  Jim though it was because he was embarrassed…hey…I could have gotten pink!  We tried putting it on him again when Oliver came over since Shamus cannot behave when Oliver is over…didn’t work, guess he got over his embarrassment!

September 26th 2010

Yule swap ornament this year will be a 4 inch (complete) paper pieced tree in shades of batik and white on white…I hope to make at least 7, one for me, one for mom and 6 to send for the swap…one done, takes about a day of hand piecing and quilting…with the usual interruptions. The flash really washed out the color…the tree is lime green the trunk tan fossil fern fabric… pattern from 300 Paper Pieced Quilt Block Patterns by Carol Doak, Pattern # 044 completed September 26th 2010
